I love watching movies whether i'm viewing them on my high-def LCD television or my home computer and laptops. Watching movies on a television is simple enough, just choose the source of the program whether its the dvd ( HD-DVD, Blueray) player or cable ( satellite) system and you are good to go. But viewing a movie or video content on a computer is a bit more complicated because of the different video codecs that are available.
Choosing a media player is a personal choice but using a good one makes it easier to launch a video without worrying about the format. Recently i came across a media player that is simple to use but contains enough options to satisfy even the most advance users. The name of the application is the GOM Player which is an easy to use media player that supports most of the video formats ( AVI, Divx, Mpeg, DAT and many more) with its own embedded codec system. Therefore you don't need to look for a particular codec each time you launch a video content.
Another amazing feature of the GOM Player is the ability to play video files that are still being downloaded or playing a broken AVI files! In addition, the GOM Player supports advance features such as setting toggle keys, VMR modes, detailed resolution and many more options. For those who wants to pimp their player, one can customize the skin by simply downloading them from the site.
The one feature that i really like about the GOM Player is the ability to capture a still image from a video. By just clicking on the control panel button on the lower right corner of the player and clicking the screen capture button, one can capture any video image and saving it to your computer. Imagine playing a wedding video or birthday video and you want to capture a particular scene, all you have to do is point and click the screen capture button to save the image. So if you have a lot of old home movies that you transferred to the DVD format, start viewing them and capture a scene that you want to save and share with family members.
Overall, i found the GOM media player an excellent application and the program is "FREE"!
