Tomy will be releasing a $300 miniature robot called the i-Sobot this October just in time for the holiday season. Compared to Wow Wee's popular geek toy, the RoboSapian, the i-Sobot is much smaller in stature, infact the actual height is 6.5 inches tall. But don't let the size fool you (remember size doesn't matter...for robots anyway), since this model has three cpu's, 17 servo motors, and gyroscopic sensors to give it a more realistic and fluid motion. Additional features such as programmable mode, voice command mode and remote control mode makes the Tomy i-Sobot more than a toy robot but a state-of-the-art technology show piece.
Take a look at the video below and be amazed by the capabilites of the i-Sobot.

Tech gadgets, electronics, computers, and video games will be the most requested items this holiday season. But one tech toy that seems to be gaining in popularity each year are the toy robots. Ever since the introduction of Sony's Aibo ( Artificial Intelligence roBOt ), the high-end robotic pet in 1999, a lot of toy companies tried to duplicate the amazing technology from this model by manufacturing cheaper and smaller version of this unit. However, most of this lower end toy robots are basically limited in motion and programmability.
So here comes Wow Wee who produced the RoboSapian toy robot several years ago with more capabilities and a lower entry price. The RoboSapian model was design by Mark Tilden and ever since the first introduction of this toy robot, the toy industry suddenly became flooded with similar products. The Wow Wee RoboSapian model is the most popular of the bunch because of its size, design ( very high-tech looking), programmability, range of motions and most importantly the price.
Toy manufacturer Tomy will be slated to bring the i-Sobot in October for the price of $300 and you can also pre-order from Amazon.com. The i-Sobot will be the first serious challenger to the RoboSapian model for the must have tech toy this coming holiday season.

Pleo the robotic Camarasaurus
Caleb Chung from Ugobe stated that "Pleo is the first truly autonomous Life Form capable of emotions that allow personal engagement". The robotics team at Ugobe will be releasing this life like Camarasaurus in the next few months with an estimated price tag of around $349. What makes Pleo so advance is the 35 sensors and 6 processors that will enable it to inter-act and respond to touch...not just walking and moaning ( for a $349 toy...it better do more...maybe fetch my slippers).
If you want your very own baby Camarasaurus go to the Pleo webpage and pre-order your very own dino bot. With all the hype surrounding this toy, i anticipate that you will have a hard time finding Pleo at your local retail store or on-line store so order early or go to Ebay and pay two to three times more ( remember Furby and Tickle Me Elmo).
The demo video on the Pleo webpage is simply amazing. The movement of the body parts especially the head and legs are very life like with the sound adding more dimension to Pleo. It seems that the Ugobe designers took the time to really developed the technology behind this toy without sacrificing the appeal of this Camarasaurus baby dinosaur.
